What We Do
The club runs normally on Saturdays between 2.30pm and 5.30pm for the Junior Club (School years 6 to 8) and until 9.00pm for the Senior Club (years 9 and 10). On Sunday, 5th and 6th formers come between 2.00pm and 6.00pm for study and sport.
On Saturdays, both club groups start off together with a casual game of football. Then, after a break for a quick drink, the juniors do the activity of the day as outlined in the term programme and finish with a game of some sort. The seniors after the break have 45 minutes set aside to do homework or private study and then spend time on the day’s activity as on the club programme. Afterwards they can join the club leaders for dinner. The Study Centre follows a more informal programme, driven by the boys’ need to get work done.
Different Activities
We’re not focused on any one range of activities, so we offer a variety over the course of the year. Some are listed below, a few with more details on another page. For us, the activities we run should be entertaining and should form a framework in which we can help the club members grow up.
- Sports
- Filming
- Making things
- Day trips
- Weekends away & camps
- Computer skills
Study
One activity we consider especially worthwhile is study: we have a well-equipped study-cum-library and we encourage the club members to get into the habit of doing their work well. As well as general help on study techniques, we offer tuition in particular areas, especially in the months leading up to public exams. We also run occasional study courses both here at the club and elsewhere.
